I live exactly one building away from a very famous burger chain. Occasionally I like to order dinner from there. Yes, I do realise it is the height of convenience to order food from a restaurant I can actually see preparing my food from my kitchen window!
Let me take you back a few years. If I wanted to order a burger meal from the restaurant next door I would first call the restaurant directly, after placing my order it usually took around 1 to 1 and a half hours for my food to be delivered. It was delivered to my door by the delivery guy dressed in the restaurants logo, I could only pay him in cash and rarely did he have change with him.
Fast forward a few years to now. I still live in the same building and that same burger chain is next door. If I place an order today, I now call a call centre number to place my order. My call is answered quickly and efficiently, the call centre employee informing me of any additional offers they may have running and also if I would like to pay in cash or card. I take note that this call centre most certainly does not belong to the burger chain itself, it is outsourced!
Once my order has been placed my food is guaranteed to be at my door within 15 minutes of placing the order. My food arrives hot, fresh, the delivery guy has change and even a card payment option. Said delivery guy no longer wears the logo of the burger chain, he wears a well known food delivery company logo, once again outsourcing is the way the go.
If the burger chains of today have realised they need to outsource all extra tasks that get in the way of allowing them to do what they do best then why aren't we all doing it?
Outsourcing really is the future, it is everywhere and anywhere. Next time you pick up the phone and dial a call centre, think to yourself, who am I really calling here? More often than not you are speaking to an outsourcing company that specialise in taking calls from customers and dealing with your enquiry or complaint. This allowed you as the customer to be dealt with quickly and efficiently, getting the answers you need.
In business to business scenario, administrative tasks are repetitive and yet have to be done for effective reporting and analysis. Outsourcing administrative services can allow business to focus on core offering while saving costly resources.
According to a survey done by Deloitte in 2016 the most common reasons companies decide to outsource are:
• 59% – Reduce or control costs
• 57% – Focus on core functions
• 47% – Solve capacity issues
• 31% – Improve service
Stick to doing what you do the best and outsource the rest!
